Jeong received Korea’s Cine21 Film Criticism Award (2003) and the Society for Cinema and Media Studies Dissertation Award (2012). He has worked on film theory and critical issues through diverse films, focusing on global cinema related to multiculturalism, abjection, catastrophe, and networking with biopolitical, ethical, and psychoanalytic philosophies. A former film critic in South Korea, he joined CSULB after working as an assistant professor at New York University Abu Dhabi and has held a visiting professorship at Columbia University and a few Korean universities. Seung-hoon Jeong is Assistant Professor of Film and Electronic Arts (Critical Studies: International Cinema) at California State University Long Beach.
